1 Stratton, R. B. Captivity of the Oatman Girls
San Francisco 1857 Hardcover Near Fine Book 
The rare 2nd edition, 231 pages, illustrations, containing a map which was not contained in the 1st ed. original cloth with gilt lettering on front cover, minor foxing mainly on end-papers, housed in a custom 1/4 leather clamshell case, overall a near fine copy. The Oatman family was attacked while part of a schismatic Mormon wagon train en route to California via the Old Santa Fe Route in 1851. Six members of the family were murdered, one of the sons left for dead, and Mary Ann and Olive were hauled away by the Apaches. All were killed except one boy who escaped and later began a search for his two s isters who also survived but were taken into captivity by the Indians.
