Original blue cloth, 387 pages, frontis, illustrations, minor wear to jacket, slight edge wear to cover, inscribed, "To William MacLeod Raine with kindest regards R. W. Aldrich Captain Texas Rangers Austin Jan 17 1938." Aldrich served with the Rangers from 1915 to 1947. Traded horses with the Cherokee Indians in the late 1800s among other things, and was a Ranger who spanned the age of horseback to autos. Mark Aldrich, Roy's grandfather is mentioned in the book as being a prominent citizen, 1855, first American to open a store in Tucson, first postmaster and was a member of the First Territorial Legislature. William Raine a noted British born American novelist grew up near the Texas-Arkansas border and wrote several books on the West. Nice association copy!
