Original printed wraps, 30 pages, map. Contains Felix R. Brunot's report of his three days of negotiations with the Shoshones with Chief Washakie as the Indian's spokesman. The government want the Indians to sale part of their reservation to open the land up for white settlers (nothing new there). They agreed to sale the land for $25,000, with the chief getting $500 a year for five years. Washakie wanted cattle and houses for his people as they were poor and afraid of the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians. Included is a list of the Shoshone men. Brunot give details of his trip and description of the land. General Brisbin helped with the negotiations. An Indian attack occurred after the treaty was finalized. Only two copies have appeared at auction in the last 70 years.
